The meat industry now wants to distribute information neutrally and objectively in order to refute false reports.

From now on, the industry wants to participate in the intensive discussions about the meat industry with a new information portal.

As the German federation of the meat economy (VDF) communicated, an initiative carried by enterprises on the web page www.fokus-fleisch.de offers knowledge and facts to animal husbandry, slaughtering and processing of cattle and pig meat as well as to the relevant social topics nutrition, climate, industrial safety and animal protection. "We would like to interfere strengthened into the current discussions with arguments and the discussions objectify,” explained VDF CEO Dr. Heike Harstick.

The new homepage is to serve the public according to the federation as an important information platform. Information, connections and facts about meat production are conveyed on pages with a modern design and easy to understand language. The website provides insights into the entire value chain. Focus on meat should also be a forum for scientists to discuss the latest research results in the fields of nutrition, climate or animal protection with all social groups.

With the wide range of products on www.fokus-fleisch.de, the industry wants to address consumers and provide additional information to journalists, politicians and non-governmental organizations. Beyond that also questions can be placed over the Website to all ranges of topics approximately around meat; the answers would take place promptly. The VDF explained that it is important to the Initiative to place arguments for a fair and objective discussion in society. At the same time, relevant articles about meat were published and commented on the social media channels Twitter and Facebook.
