Vion has successfully completed the acquisition process for Adriaen's beef slaughtering operation in Zottegem, Belgium. The integration process into the Dutch-German Vion Group will now begin for the site, the meat group said. "All employees will remain employed within the Adriaens organization," it added. "We have been preparing the acquisition in close cooperation with the management of Adriaens over the past weeks," Vion CEO Ronald Lotgerink said. He announced that the company will be gradually integrated into the Vion Group and confidence will be built in the sales market."
"Strengthening the beef division in Belgium will lead to a better spread of our beef activities in Western Europe for our customers," added David De Camp, COO Beef at Vion. Together with the Adriaens team, Vion will work to build strong relationships with farmers and customers in this important Western European region for beef cattle, he adds. The operation, which has a capacity of 2,500 animals per week, says it is one of the most modern beef slaughterhouses in Europe. The company is certified organic and offers halal slaughtering.
