Turkey eggs in incubators on 1 February were down 4% to 26.8 mill., the US Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) reported. Eggs in incubators on declined 2% compared to eggs placed on 1 January.
Turkey poults hatched in January were down 3% from a year ago to total 23.4 mill., but gained 6% compared to the December 2013 total of 22.0 mill. poults, according to NASS.
Net poults placed during January totalled 22.4 mill., a decline of 5% from the number of poults placed in the comparable year ago period, NASS reported. Net placements increased 6% from the December 2013 total of 21.1 mill.
