BELGIUM, Brussels. The joint letter by the European Meat Manufacturing Industry, united in CLITRAVI, and the European Federation of food, agriculture and tourism trade unions, EFFAT, representing the interests of workers employed in the meat manufacturing industry would like to draw attention to the escalating prices.
The raw material cost for the manufacturing industry typically represents around 50% and in some instances 75% of the total production cost, the organization claims.
The aim of the joint letter, however, is not to point out solutions, but to draw attention to the situation in general, and they think it is important that the entire supply chain understands the challenges of this exceptional, yet ongoing, market situation which potentially threatens businesses, jobs and livelihoods across the European industry.
