GERMANY, Rheda-Wiedenbrück. The corona tests at Germany's largest meat processor Tönnies in Rheda-Wiedenbrück have all been negative so far.
By Wednesday noon, 784 laboratory results had been obtained by employees of the Tönnies group. "These findings were all negative," the district of Gütersloh announced. Almost 2,100 employees were tested on Monday and Tuesday.
The state had ordered all employees of slaughterhouses in North Rhine-Westphalia to be tested for the corona virus. The number of employees to be tested at Tönnies was higher than the originally assumed number of 6,500, it was said. The personnel lists include about 7,700 people.
CEO Clemens Tönnies also used the press conference to scold the company for its political statements of the past few days: "We abide by the law, we are pioneers in the area of housing, and we create supra-legal standards".
