The second UK One-Health Report is a cross-government initiative that brings together UK data (2013-2017), on antibiotic resistance in key bacteria that are common to animals and humans, and isolated in meat at retail.

The report also includes details on amount of antibiotics sold for use in animals and antibiotics prescribed to humans.

Details regarding the use include a reduction of 40% in food-producing animals based on the use per bodyweight (from 62 mg/kg to 37 mg/kg) and 9% in people (from 135 mg/kg to 123 mg/kg).

The total sales in t dropped by 19% from 957 to 773 t. In 2017, use in people was 491 t and sales for use in animals (food-producing animals, horses and pets) were 282 t. Use in people represented 55% of all sales in 2013 and 64% in 2017. Overall, 89% (17 t) of highest priority critically important antibiotics were used in people. Their use increased in people by 8% and decreased in animals by 51%.
