The Quality Standard Mark (QSM) scheme for beef and lamb is to celebrate its 10th year, Eblex has reported.
Launched in 2004 to address issues surrounding the quality of red meat, the QSM is now one of the most influential logos for consumers in UK, according to a recent YouGov survey. The YouGov Meat and Poultry survey showed that only ‘free-range' and ‘British' were seen as more influential in UK, with over a third of respondents saying they were more likely to purchase meat with the QSM.
Laura Bishop, Eblex marketing Manager (Quality Schemes), said, that consumers were more aware than ever about Food safety and traceability and were increasingly looking for assurance and origin indicators on packaging and menus. The good news for retailers and caterers was that the QSM scheme for beef and lamb had remained robust since its launch 10 years ago and was better placed than ever to enhance consumer confidence.
