According to Unite the meat manufacturer started a 45-consultation process to cease production in Bodmin.

The threat to the jobs at meat manufacturer Tulip in Bodmin was reported by Unite, Britain and Ireland’s largest union.

The company said that it was starting the 45-day consultation process over proposals to cease production at the site, with 270 roles at risk of redundancy. The consultation period is expected to end on 9 December.

Unite regional officer Deborah Hopkins said: “Tulip used to be one of the primary employers in Bodmin. The company has described political uncertainty as a cause for its problems.“
