During a press breakfast at IFFA, the Managing Directors of Multivac Hans-Joachim Boekstegers (CEO) and Guido Spix (CTO/ COO) gave an overview of the current business development.

"Contrary to the general market trend, our business continues to develop relatively well," explained Boekstegers. "We are recording a positive development in all business areas and our production capacities are fully utilised. With sales of around € 1.1 bn., the Group was able to achieve sales growth of 8.5% year-on-year in 2018. Despite numerous imponderables, we expect sales growth in the order of 10% for the current financial year as well".

The further expansion of production capacities will continue to have high priority in the future. In 2018, for example, a new production facility was put into operation in Bulgaria, comprising a factory building for parts production for the Group, a modern logistics centre, a training centre and an administration building. A new competence center for slicers and automation solutions is currently under construction at the Wolfertschwenden site and will be completed in 2020.

As part of its digitisation strategy, the company, together with other European companies from the mechanical engineering, industrial automation and software sectors, has promoted the foundation of the Open Industry 4.0 Alliance with a detailed cooperation agreement.
