The Meat Board of Namibia was authorised by the Minister of Trade and Industry to implement a Poultry Marketing Scheme as was gazetted in Notice 81/2013. In terms of this notice only 600 tons of meat derived from poultry (Species Gallus Domesticus) will be allowed for importation per month.

The Meat Board had several industry meetings/information sessions with relevant stakeholders to inform them of all procedures.

The poultry scheme has been implemented on Monday 6 May and importers are requested to make sure that they have the necessary import permits.
