Mexican poultry giant buys US poultry breeding operation

Mexico's leading producer and processor of poultry and other food products, Industrias Bachoco S.A.B. de C.V., has reached an agreement to acquire the breeding assets of Morris Hatchery Inc. in Arkansas.

The assets consist primarily of equipment and bird inventory. It has a capacity of approximately350 thousand laying hens that produce hatching eggs. This acquisition takes effect immediately.

Industrias Bachoco is the leader in the Mexican poultry industry, and one of the largest poultry producers in the world. Bachoco is a vertically integrated company headquartered in Celaya, Guanajuato, in Central Mexico.

Its primary business segments are chicken, eggs, balanced feed, swine, turkey and value-added turkey and beef products. Bachoco owns and manages more than 1,000 facilities, organised in nine production complexes and 64 distribution centers in Mexico, and a production complex in the US. It employs more than 25,000 people.
