Labelling Nestlé announces support for Nutri-Score
In March 2017, the company declared its full support for the development of a single European colour-coded front labelling system for packaging. Health authorities in France, Belgium and Switzerland have already recommended the use of Nutri-Score. Some other countries have indicated their intention to follow this example.
Nestlé Germany is also in favour of Nutri-Score as a uniform, extended labelling system and will start implementing it, provided the legal requirements are met. The company would welcome it if the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, as the lead agency, were to support notification of this system to the EU Commission. In this case, Nestlé Germany will also immediately start implementation once the notification has been successfully completed in order to provide consumers with the best possible guidance in the future.
The company is committed to implementing Nutri-Score on a large scale, starting in countries that already support the system. Constructive engagement in other countries will continue in order to achieve the best possible result for all Europeans. Nestlé will publish a specific Communication on the implementation of the system in autumn 2019.
