Next year, together with Korea’s leading trade fair company Coex, DLG (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – German Agricultural Society) an international expert organisation and trade fair organiser, will be holding the Food Industry Technology Show Korea for the first time.

The new trade fair and conference format will be focussing on developments by and offerings from the international food technology sector and their relevance for the markets in North and East Asia. The premiere will take place from 25 to 28 November 2020 at the Coex Center in the South Korean capital city Seoul, parallel to the Coex Food Week, the leading trade fair for food and beverages in the markets of North and East Asia.

South Korea is one of the centres of the fast-growing food industry in the Asia-Pacific region. Experts estimate that by 2020, 40% of the global turnover will be earned in this region. The Northern Asian food industry alone has been displaying an annual growth rate of more than 30% since 2010. The demand for technological solutions that satisfy the growing consumer demands made of the quality and safety of food and beverages and that enable more efficient production methods is correspondingly high.

“With the Food Industry Technology Show, we offer national and international suppliers of food technologies, production aids, additive materials and packaging solutions as well as food producers an attractive business platform and a network of international food technology experts. Together with the Coex Food Week, which has grown to become Korea’s leading trade show for the global food and beverage industry, welcoming a large number of local and international buyers, we thus cover the entire food value chain”, says Simone Schiller, Managing Director DLG Competence Center Food.

Drew Lee, CEO and President of Coex emphasizes the importance of the new trade fair for the Korean peninsula and the region of North and East Asia. “Given the increasing globalisation of product trends and flows of goods, close networking with the international food technology scene is of crucial importance for the food and beverage producers from South Korea and the whole region. With DLG as an experienced expert organisation and organiser of leading trade fairs and conferences in the fields of agricultural machinery and food technology, and Coex as an international exhibition organizer that launches over 20 shows annually in Korea and overseas, we believe that Food Industry Technology Show Korea can achieve a strong brand competitiveness and identity within the industry. We are confident that the partnership between the two who excel with both expertise and an international network will result in record breaking success.”

“As an expert and testing organisation, as well as an organiser of international conferences, we have many years of expertise, experience and networks enabling us to present appropriate technological solutions to the challenges of the food industry in North and East Asia in an innovative trade fair and conference format together with our partner Coex,” says Professor Dr. Katharina Riehn, Member of the Board and Vice President of the DLG Competence Center Food, who is convinced that the new project will be a success. “Under Food Industry, our brand for knowledge management and events, we regularly provide information about topical themes and developments in the food sector. At the same time Food Industry is a networking platform for experts along the food supply chain.”

The Food Industry Technology Show Korea will take place at the same time as the Coex Food Week. Together with the leading Korean trade fair for food and beverages, the new event covers the entire value creation chain from production to marketing. The accompanying Technical Programme, developed by DLG, Coex and further partners, will focus not only on topical themes from the fields of food processing, packaging and ingredients, but also on the increasing digitalization of production and processing options.
