JBS creates leather unit

The board of Brazilian meatpacker JBS SA approved the company's plan to create a leather unit, the company said in a statement.

The Wallstreet Journal announced, JBS's board had approved the foundation of JBS Couros in order to constitute the entry of the company into the industrialisation, purchase, sale, import and export of bovine hides and leather.

Furthermore, JBS' board approved the capitalisation of JBS Couros for up to $26.8 million to finance initial investments of JBS Couros.
