With the acquisition of the buildings on the 22,600 square meter site, DC is now securing the opportunity to further expand its location in Essen.

Danish Crown has acquired a further production site in Essen (Oldenburg) and will take it over from HJD Holding GmbH as of October 1, 2020. Fleisch-Krone-Feinkost GmbH has been operating at this location until now, but will cease operations there on this date. The 220 employees of Fleisch-Krone-Feinkost will be taken over.

With the acquisition of the buildings on the 22,600 square meter site, DC is now securing the opportunity to further expand its location in Essen, which is located about 80 km southwest of Bremen. Until the purchase of the slaughterhouse in Essen in 2010, the production plant was integrated into the former slaughterhouse.

"Due to the placement, the purchase was actually obvious for us. For some time now, the limited space at our slaughterhouse in Essen has been a challenge for us, and when the opportunity arose, it wasn't hard for us to strike," says Preben Sunke, Group COO of Danish Crown.

The production facility will be taken over by a subsidiary of Danish Crown Pork.
