Germany exporting more food

German agricultural exports are continuing to grow despite the continuing weakness of the dollar and the global increase in energy costs.

According to the CMA, German agricultural and food companies exported goods to the value of EUR 11.6 billion across the globe in the first three months of 2008, almost 17 percent more than in the equivalent period last year.

EUR 1.55 billion worth of meat and meat products were exported; by weight, deliveries increased by 15.4 percent to 687,033 t.

Pork exports accounted for a significant proportion of this, increasing by 21.6 percent to 405,355 t.

Beef exports rose by 19.8 percent in comparison to Q1 2007, to 105,799 t.

The main client country was Russia.
