German Minister Ilse Aigner to open the 76th Green Week

The opening ceremonies of the 76th International Green Week Berlin 2011 (21 to 30 January) will take place today. Welcoming addresses will be given by the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, and the Chief Executive Officer of Messe Berlin GmbH, Raimund Hosch.

They will be followed by Jürgen Abraham, Chairman of the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries (BVE), Gerd Sonnleitner, President of the German Farmers’ Union, and Marek Sawicki, Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland. The Green Week will be opened by Ilse Aigner, Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.

”An extraordinary journey of discovery in the footsteps of a musical genius”, has been announced by this year’s partner country Poland, with reference to its stage programme for the opening ceremonies, with the show entitled ”Rock Loves Chopin”.

The official opening tour of the International Green Week Berlin 2011 with Federal Minister Ilse Aigner, Berlin’s Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit and the leading representatives of the organisations sponsoring the Green Week, the President of the German Farmers’ Union Gerd Sonnleitner and the Chairman of the Federation of German Food and Drink Industries, Jürgen Abraham, will commence on 21 January between 7.45 and 8 a.m. in Hall 11.2 on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds, at the stand of the partner country Poland.
