With two more acquisitions, Israeli flavor and fragrance company Frutarom continues to invest in its Savory Solutions business unit. The December 2010 acquisition of the “Industrial Spices business” division of Norway’s Rieber & Son ASA has now been followed by the purchase of the British company East Anglian Food Ingredients Ltd. (EAFI).

Both companies specialise in flavours, spices and functional ingredients especially for meat, fish and convenience products. With these acquisitions, Frutarom underlines its growth strategy. Both EAFI and Rieber’s Industrial Spices business provide comprehensive portfolios of high-quality products, state-of-the-art technologies and corresponding expertise. Additionally, the businesses have extensive and established costumer bases in the UK and Scandinavia respectively.

In the past four years, Frutarom has acquired Christian Hansen’s savory unit, as well as the companies Gewürzmüller and Nesse. The acquisition of EAFI and Rieber’s spices division solidifies Frutarom’s position in the market for savory flavours and spices. Rieber adds strength in the Scandinavian market. In the UK, Frutarom is already the leading supplier of “sweet” flavours – the EAFI acquisition extends its product portfolio with savory flavours.
