Danish Crown Green light for exports to China
Six products processed in two factories owned by DC's subsidiary Tulip Food are now cleared for export in China. The agreement comprises pepperoni, salami, frankfurter sausages, hot dogs, canned luncheon meat and canned sausages.
It is a deal that could reach almost $42 mill. a year in short-term, belives Tulip Food chief executive Kasper Lenbroch. Until now, DC exported only fresh pork to China, this market accounting for 5% of its sales. In 2016/2017 FY, China bought from DC about 217,000 t of meat worth about $500 mill.
Now, the Scandinavian company wants to get a better grip on high-value processed meat market of China as intends to open a factory in Shanghai in 2019. The first shipment of Tulip Food products is expected to be sent in a few weeks.
