GERMANY, Berlin/Potsdam. Worldwide, meat and meat products are becoming an intrinsic part of evermore diversifying markets. With this in mind, there are future scenarios concerning potential developments and options in a globalized world that need to be considered.
On one hand there are interventions from the political sphere but there is also a demand for innovation from within the meat sector itself. Will globalized free trade and digitalization have a significant impact on the meat industry? Will values such as regionalization and quality gain importance in the future? To what extent does consumer behaviour lead to market driven innovations? Is the meat sector able to push innovation on its own terms?
Therefore, the 65th International Congress of Meat Science and Technology 2019 in Potsdam/Berlin, Germany 04– 09 August 2019 is themed “Meat for Diversifying Markets” and will deal with various main topics: consumer behaviour, ethics, microbiology, food safety, sustainability, muscle biology, metabolomics, animal welfare, emerging technologies, digitalization and recently emerging topics.
