At the end of last week the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) added nearly 50 ready-to-eat products to a list of recalled items.

The decision is based on the risk that they may contain meat from a Maple Leaf Foods plant in Toronto.

The products include party trays, submarine sandwiches and wraps, and have best-before dates up to and including Aug. 25, 26 and 27.

A list of the additional recalled products is published at the CFIA website.

The number of confirmed deaths from an outbreak of listeriosis linked to meat from the Maple Leaf plant rose to eight on Thursday last week.
