Brazils pork export volume steady, up in value

- The volume of pork exported in November was the same as a year before but the US$-value was up more than 13%.

The latest figures from Associação Brasileira Ind Prod Exp Carne Suína (ABIPECS) reveal that Brazil exported 43,039 t of pork in November, which was nearly up on the same month last year. The average price per ton in US dollars was 13.4% higher than a year ago. The value of export sales in November was US$130.6 mill., almost 13.5% more than in November 2010.

For the year-to-date, the total volume of pork exported was 479,487 t, down 5.0% compared to 2010. The value of those exports, however, was 6.6% higher at almost US$1.331 bill. The average price of pig meat over the year to date was $2,776 per t, up 12.2% from a year ago.
