Marfrig Frigorificos e Comercio de Alimentos S.A. announced the acquisition of Carrol’s Food do Brasil S.A.

Carrol’s specialised in the production and sale of pork has been purchased Marfrig subsidiary Frigorificos Mabell Ltd. for $25.2 million.

Carrol’s includes the largest feeding facility in Mato Grosso and two ranches. The company raises 160,000 hogs and produces 1,200 head per day. Marfrig’s subsidiary also announced it leased a pork packing facility in Sao Paulo, where capacity is 1,000 hogs per day.

These investments complement Marfrig’s strategy of expanding its animal protein operations. Slaughter capacity has been expanded to 6,400 head/day in four states and the company provides increased control of the entire pork production chain.
