ASF Spreading unstoppable
The updated map of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI) clearly shows the spread of African swine fever (ASP) in Europe in 2020. 322 new cases in feral pigs have been registered in Poland until Tuesday, 28 January. For Germany, the increasing number of findings in western Poland, which extend right up to the borders of Brandenburg and Saxony, is worrying, and no less worrying, but further away, is the situation in southeastern Europe. In Hungary, 365 cases of ASF have already been detected in wild boars this year. Romania and Bulgaria also report extensive findings. In these two countries domestic pigs are also affected. In Romania ASP 2020 has already been found in 79 stables, in Bulgaria there are six pig farmers.
