STRASBOURG Members of European Parliament (MEPs) approved today tougher rules for foods claiming to provide nutritional and health benefits. They want clear definitions for claims that foods are "low energy", "low fat", "high fibre" or even "reduce cholesterol".

BSE declines world-wide
ROME The cases of BSE have declined world-wide in past years according to the UN. In total the number of sick animals declined by 50 per cent between 2004 and 2005, the Food&Agriculture Oganisation (FAO) announced in Rome, according to data collected by the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE).
