This year's 59th International Congress of Meat Science and Technology (ICoMST) will be organised first at Swissôtel Grand Efes in Izmir, Turkey, from 18-23 August 2013.
In this congress an atmosphere will be created, where good relations are commenced and developed between the sector and its suppliers, research organisations and universities.
Over 700 participants from all around the world are expected to attend the congress to be organised for the first time in Turkey. In line with the goal to create a great network gathering national and international institutions in the sector, it is targeted to contribute to the development of the meat sector and productivity.
The International Congress of Meat Science and Technology has been organised first under the title of "European Meeting of Meat Research Workers" in 1995 in Finland. The organisation has acquired an international dimension in 1987 and is still organised under the title of "International Congress of Meat Science and Technology (ICoMST)" with the participation of more than 70 countries.
During the ICoMST at Baltimore, USA, in August 2005 it has been decided that the congress in 2013 will take place in Turkey.
