BERLIN In the third quarter, the industry was able to improve its result with the production of food.
The Federal Association of the German Food Industry (BVE) has published its report on the third quarter. In September, German industry achieved sales of € 15.6 bn. This is an improvement by 6.4%. The turnover result is caused by an increase in both sales and prices. Sales figures in Germany climbed by 5.2%. A total of € 5.2 bn. worth of food was exported, representing an increase of 5.7% over the previous year. The calendar and seasonally adjusted production index rose by 4%.
According to the monthly ifo Business Climate Index, German food manufacturers remain confident. The companies assess their own business situation slightly worse than in the previous assessment. Nevertheless, they expect selling prices to improve. Consumer sentiment improved slightly. Higher-quality food continues to enjoy great popularity. Food prices fell slightly by 0.4% in October.
