A delegation of the National Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Vietnam paid an official visit to the FGBI (Federal Centre for Animal Health)“Leningrad Interoblast Veterinary Laboratory” on 14 April, 2015 with the purpose to inspect plants willing to export animal products to Vietnam.

During the meeting with the Vietnamese experts chaired by Nina Brovkina, Director of the Laboratory, the parties raised the issues related to lab control in the RF. Acting Head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Territorial Administration for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast Anna Mitrofanova greeted the Vietnamese colleagues.  She remarked that the experts from the Territorial Administration annually inspect approximately half of all the consignments of animal products imported to the Russian Federation from more than one hundred countries.

“Nevertheless, epizootic situation in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast has remained stable over the recent years: no zoonoses outbreaks have been reported”, Anna Mitrofanova said. Experts of the Territorial Administration described all the stages of inspecting the imported consignments starting with documentary checks, consignment examination, sampling procedures and sending samples for lab tests. Leading experts of the lab familiarised the Vietnamese colleagues with the national monitoring lab tests used for imported products and answered numerous questions on sampling procedures, quality standards and norms established by the RF and CU legislation.
