Russia's production of beef, pork and poultry increased in July compared with a year earlier, the Federal State Statistics Service, known as Rosstat, reported.

Pork output gained 34% to 104,000 t and poultry production rose 1.8% to 294,000 t, Rosstat said. Production of beef and meat from other cattle rose 1.8% to 14,800 t.

Cattle and poultry production by live weight, which includes skin, bones and byproducts, rose 9.2% to 900,000 t in July compared with the year earlier, according to Rosstat.

Russia's cattle herd fell 1.9% from last year to 20.9 mill. head by the end of July and the number of cows dropped 1.7% to 9 mill., according to the statement. The number of hogs gained 5.2% to 20.5 mill. and the number of sheep and goats fell 0.3% to 27.2 mill.
