Prof. Gareis took up a new position at LMU

  Prof. Dr. Dr. habil. Manfred Gareis, member of the advisory board of "Fleischwirtschaft", took up a new position at the start of the year. He has moved to the Veterinarian Medicine Faculty at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich.

Gareis studied veterinary medicine at LMU where he also obtained his doctorate and qualified as a professor at the LMU Institute for Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology. He headed the Max-Rubner-Institut (MRI) for Microbiology and Toxicology in Kulmbach from 1993. The MRI Institute was formerly the Federal Center for Meat Research.

In his new position in the chair for Food Safety the specialist veterinarian microbiologist and diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Public Health will be responsible for research and teaching in the fields of zoonosis and infective agents in food, food safety, and meat and food hygiene.
