The companies Ludwig Bierhalter GmbH and Teeuwissen Holding B.V. have come to an agreement to join forces on the purchase and sales of natural casings for the sausage and meat industry. Teeuwissen, being part of the Saria group since October 2014, will take a majority share in Bierhalter. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2016 after clearance by the relevant regulatory authorities.

Bierhalter, a family business with over 75 years of experience and one of the leading German suppliers of natural casings to sausage producers, will get access to the global raw material sourcing platform of the Teeuwissen companies. Teeuwissen sources and produces natural casings directly from its suppliers in the meat industry. The customers of Bierhalter will benefit from this stable and secured raw material supply chain with excellent availability of the highest quality hog casings.

By joining forces, Teeuwissen strengthens its position in the valorization of natural hog and sheep casings and enhances its possibilities to process and distribute the raw materials sourced from its global supply base.

Bierhalter is headquartered in Talheim, Germany. Bierhalter specializes in the selection and distribution of natural hog, sheep and bovine casings to the meat industry. An important focal point for the company is the individualised, customer oriented range of tubed natural casings.

The Teeuwissen Group is headquartered in Cuijk, The Netherlands. Teeuwissen is a leading international player in the collection, processing and trading of meat products and meat by-products such as casings.
