Japan likely to decide in June to resume U.S. beef imports
According to Kyodo News Japan approved the outcome of recent safety checks at U.S. meatpacking facilities for beef exports at a three-day bilateral meeting that ended in Tokyo on Friday, a move that could pave the way for Tokyo to decide as early as June to lift its reimposed ban on American beef.

BSE declines world-wide
ROME The cases of BSE have declined world-wide in past years according to the UN. In total the number of sick animals declined by 50 per cent between 2004 and 2005, the Food&Agriculture Oganisation (FAO) announced in Rome, according to data collected by the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE).
